As part of my 2022 run, I'm going to take a few new steps to keep my account 100% about ratings, but with some little educational bits and bobs alongside. I thought, if I'm researching this myself for enjoyment and work, I may as well share it with anyone that could potentially be interested! I think it's great to learn about the familiar and not-so-familiar faces of history and show how they've helped shape the world, or certain aspects of it, to the way it is.  First of all, I introduce you to the workings of Maria Sibylla Merian. Let's give her a little rundown. Merian is known for being a Scientific Illustrator & Entomologist born in the Free Imperial City of Frankfurt in 1647. Merian was fascinated by bugs in a time where most saw them with disgust. She looked at them with intrigue and she began collecting them at a young age, but her deepest fascination lied with butterflies. After 7 days of catch up viewing, the official figures for the opening episode of Series 13 are now available. It's an interesting figure to say the least, and leaves some questions for the remainder of the series. On top of that, we'll have a look at some of the reviews that have appeared in response to 'The Halloween Apocalypse!" Data released by BARB TV, the official UK ratings provider, shows that the opening episode of Series 13 had an overall audience of 5.79 million . This includes viewing across all platforms (phones, tablets, PC's and television sets - although how accurately it puts them is not certain since iPlayer viewings are not included). On TV alone, the episode had 5.69 million watching (meaning 100k came from the other media platforms). The final official share sat at a very healthy 31.5% meaning Doctor Who had almost a third of the available TV audience watching that night.  This figure is a rather small rise of just 1.36 million on the overnigh...

Doctor Who returned to our screens on Halloween night and speculation over the ratings was at its peak. What with the celebrations ongoing, and the early timeslot, it was an ongoing mystery as to what the final figures may have been. The unofficial overnight viewing figures have been revealed. 'The Halloween Apocalypse' had an average viewership of 4.43 million . The episode also managed to garner an audience share of 26.9% and a peak viewership of 5.41 million within the last five minutes. Doctor Who was the 2nd most-watched show of the night, behind Strictly Come Dancing which had 7.96 million watching (42.9%).  Let's look a bit further into it. On Sunday, Doctor Who's lead in was Countryfile . The relaxing nature show just lost out to The Doctor with 4.27 million watching; the share was higher however at 29.0%. Other Sunday night dramas also couldn't quite match up. Showtrial premiered on BBC One at 9PM to an audience of 3.51 million, some people keying it as Vi...

This may be a tad rushed as time isn't on my side at the time of creation, but I wanted to do a little trailer breakdown using my knowledge of Series 13 so far, and what the new trailer has to offer us! Maybe I'll be correct about somethings, maybe I'll be wildly wrong?! Who knows? Let's get straight into it, anyway! Oh! Spoilers... Potentially. I do mention filming and such, so yes.. SPOILER ALERT! So, we open on this shot of 13. There's a siren sound playing, almost as if she's sending some sort of signal out from her sonic. Could this be a homing beacon, or a declaration of war, perhaps? It does appear that she's in a similar location to the Crimean War scenes, perhaps she causes the battle of alerts one of the battling parties of what is to come? It would be interesting to see what her purpose is here. It could also mark the end of the battle, like some omniscient being calling to end it. Back on form with some emotional moments. However, that judging sequence... Hmm.   P.S.
