 The Jubilee Celebrations put Sam Ryder in another huge show for 2022. The Outlaws & Top Gear are amongst the new shows beginning this week. MONDAY 30TH: Britain's Got Talent was Monday's best performing show, but could only manage 11th across the week with 4.32 million viewers. Coronation Street was close behind with 4.23 million, and Emmerdale had 3.69 million. Silent Witness was BBC1's best performance with 3.56 million viewers, just ahead of the BBC News At Six which informed 3.45m. The Chase had 2.84m, and The One Show had 2.68m. Springwatch on BBC2 did pretty well with 2.04m at 8PM, ahead of the likes of Pointless (1.81m), and Tipping Point (1.64m). The festive special of Ghosts reaches almost 5 million.  All figures are shown in this format "0.00 (0.00)" which indicates two separate figures. The first one is the viewership on TV alone. The second figure that's bracketed is for 'All platforms' which includes PC, tablet and mobile viewing. This second figure is a much more accurate depiction of viewership in the UK. Comedy has been about for many years now, some of which has gone down in history, and some of which left the airwaves before it really even began. Shows within this genre have to have special qualities to keep it going and that is something many writers out there are envious of. I'm not a comedy writer in the slightest, I struggle a lot with writing anything comedic, but I would like to think I understand how to make a comedy work. I've come up with a few key ideas that I'll write about below and try and provide an example to illustrate my theories.  First of all, CHARACTER is one of the most important features of a successful comedy.
