UK TV Viewing Figures  (11 January - 17 January 2021) The Masked Singer remains comfortably above 7 million. Finding Alice opens up to high figures, nearing 8 million. The Pembrokeshire Murders decimates competition with over 9 million viewers for every episode.  All figures are shown in this format "0.00 (0.00)" which indicates two separate figures. The first one is the viewership on TV alone. The second figure that's bracketed is for 'All platforms' which includes PC, tablet and mobile viewing. This second figure is a much more accurate depiction of viewership in the UK. All figures are in millions unless shown as '000k.' All figures are courtesy of BARB TV. MONDAY 11TH ITV) The Pembrokeshire Murders - 9.54 (9.77)  ITV) Bradley & Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad - 5.73 (5.76) Channel 4) Junior Bake Off - 1.66 (1.70) ITV2) The Cabins - 482k (581k) Sky Witness) The Resident - 450k (454k)   TUESDAY 12TH ITV) The Pembrokeshire Murders -  8.92 (9.13) BBC One)

Doctor Who: The Big Review (Season 7)

Doctor Who: The Big Review Season 7 (1970) Here we are, the start of a new era. Season 7 sees the bright new beginning of a new Doctor... Jon Pertwee. A season much smaller in size may take some getting used to, but I know colour television is definitely a welcomed change. The Third Doctor will face the Autons and Silurians in what I'm hoping to be a rather brilliant season. Lucky for us, Season 6 marked the end of missing stories so that is of no concern anymore... What we have now is a new Doctor, new stories, and a refreshing start to a new era of Doctor Who. Let's Go! As always, I will grade each story on an A+ to F scale, judging it fairly, and with respect to the era it aired. Judging an episode from the 1960's with the same expectation of a modern episode would not be fair. Below is a summary of my grading criteria: For each serial, I will provide a list of the main cast (omitting a few who don't appear often), and a list of some key facts of the episodes, such a

Doctor Who: The Big Review (The Patrick Troughton Era)

Image
Doctor Who: The Big Review Patrick Troughton Era (1966 - 1969) A more comical character with bundles of charm and a rather weird love for wind instruments... The Second Doctor fought off Cybermen like there was no tomorrow, met fairy-tale creatures and some rather odd-looking monsters like the Krotons, but his tenure came to an end with his own race... The Time Lords. Throughout this post I'll explore the viewing figures, the overall ranking of his era, my personal favourite stories and some likes and dislikes. As it is for @Ratings_UK, there'll be plenty of facts and stats throughout.  First of all, let's look at the ratings. Patrick Troughton had a rather consistent audience for his three-season tenure, although the occasional episode slipped, it didn't quite have the range of some other Doctors.  Each season intercepted each other most of the time, the largest differences being the downward spiral of season six where it hit just under 5 million. However, for the most

Doctor Who: The Big Review (Season 6)

Doctor Who: The Big Review Season 6 (1968-69) Season 6 brings us to the end of the Troughton era. Three seasons and he's given us a triumphant bank of stories. It brought my first A+ score and saw the introduction of the iconic Cybermen. This series was widely regarded as one of the strongest and I have high hopes. Along the way, the TARDIS team will meet fictional foes like Medusa herself, the Cybermen obviously, and beings like the Krotons. Unfortunately, there are missing episodes, but it doesn't affect us as much as it has in the past. What is missing is listed below, anything else that is missing has animated recreations or reconstructions. As always, I will grade each story on an A+ to F scale, judging it fairly, and with respect to the era it aired. Judging an episode from the 1960's with the same expectation of a modern episode would not be fair. Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks - REVIEW

Image
A solid story packed with menace, tension, and charm. A great story to tide us over until Series 13. After around ten months away from our screens, The Doctor returned for a special New Year's episode! Revolution of the Daleks marks the return of Captain Jack Harkness, eleven years after he last met The Doctor (not just a flying visit) and it's good to have him back! This festive special had much to offer, from Dalek Drones, large-scale attacks, numerous nods to the past and some rather beautiful moments between the cast. Let's get into it! Oh, and spoilers ahead... Probably a lot. Sorry. Let's run through the story. The events lead on from the happenings of 'Resolution.' The remnants of the Dalek shell are taken away, hinted at some form of secret location that isn't used anymore, perhaps The Black Archive? That's just me hoping we get the return of UNIT at some point. Anyway, Jack Robertson's return meant it wouldn't be that simple. After inte
