W9: Official Weekly Ratings Roundup (27 Feb 2023 - 05 Mar 2023)

 Official Ratings: 27 Feb 2023 - 05 Mar 2023

This week, much remains unchanged. Beyond Paradise welcomes some comfortable figures, sitting at almost 7m. Unforgotten makes a successful return, even without extra data.

DISCLAIMER: All sources used in this post are linked at the bottom. For any further information, most data will be found amidst these sources. Some topical jargon will also be found alongside. The figures mentioned in this article DO NOT include the usual platform data (those watching on tablets, phones & PC's) OR pre-transmission data (those who watched the series or show before its first airing as part of the likes of a boxset) as it wasn't available at the time of writing.

Without platform data this week, there are some slight differences, but the top show remains consistent. Beyond Paradise pulled in 6.92m million viewers, marking a slip of only 450k on its opening TV-alone audience. The only other show to achieve over 6m, was ITV1's latest series of Unforgotten which managed 6.29m viewers this week. Although being quite strong in today's climate, it is considerably below the 9.5m the previous series started and ended with. Endeavour held on to its audience quite nicely, showing a strong hold, and dipping by only 0.6%; a figure like that is hugely impressive, but it depends if the remainder of the series can maintain this.

BBC One juggernaut, The Apprentice continued with 5.90m viewers, likely meaning platform audiences would take the show just over the 6m mark, placing it near the low of 6m the show has achieved this year. Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway was the usual success for ITV1, pulling in a respectable 5.44m viewers, according to data from Thinkbox. However, this figure is some distance from the opening audience, dropping by almost 1 million. The penultimate episode of Dancing On Ice slipped to 3.54m viewers, but this is ahead of Saturday night staple, Starstruck which pulled in 3.19m this time. Next Level Chef seems to be doing consistently, but still a tad too close to slipping out of the 1m mark. This week's instalment reached only 1.36m viewers.

On Channel 4 & 5, there's some competition going on! However, the top between them had no struggle, with 4.07m people tuning into Gogglebox. The Piano slipped from its 3m highs to 2.69m this week, meaning it managed to stay ahead of The Great Pottery Throwdown which had 2.55m tuned in. Channel 4 News achieved some great heights, with Tuesday's edition informing 0.81m which is considerably higher than what we would usually see, around 500k at most. Katie Price's Mucky Mansion slipped this week, suffering a loss of almost 200k from episode 1.

Over on Channel 5, top for the week was Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly which managed 1.89m with second being a short distance away at 1.63m for Police: Suspect No. 1Dinosaur With Stephen Fry saw another drop, this time pulling in 0.66m which is only 40k down, however, and takes 19th for the week, maintaining its top twenty position for now. 5 News at 5 peaked with 0.35m viewers on Monday afternoon. 22 Kids & Counting remained solid with 1.33m

With ratings not being readily available with platform data, some figures aren't at their full potential, hence why The Gold and Better are missing this week, but both are showing some decent transmission figures, so I'm sure are remaining stable. Figures for next week will include the return of The Bay and the finals of both Dancing On Ice and The Great Pottery Throwdown. Did you watch any?!

TOPICAL JARGON:
Overnight Figure: This is those who watched live or on the same day before 2AM.
Audience Share: This is the percent of the overall audience a given show had at the time of airing. Sometimes, it may say commercial share which is the share it had across channels with advertisements only.
VOSDAL: This stands for 'Viewing On Same Day As Live' which makes up part of the overnight figure, but it is those who did not watch the programme live yet did watch within the same day or before 2AM.
Platform Data: This is those who caught up on alternative screens such as PC's, phones or tablets. This data is used for most shows in this report, unless highlighted with a * symbol.
Pre-Transmission Data: This figure is usually assigned to shows that drop a boxset before the initial airing of the episode in question, so will already have an audience before the first live airing of a given show. Few shows qualify for this data, however, but was available for figures applicable shows in this post unless labelled with a * symbol.
