Overnight Ratings Roundup (23 May - 29 May 2022)
The Queen leads the week, where only four programmes best the 4m mark. From the RHS Flower Show on BBC2, to Formula 1 on Sky Sports... Here's an insight into this week's overnight ratings.
MONDAY:
Coronation Street sat on top for Monday 23rd, with 4.34m watching, just managing to pull ahead of the return of Silent Witness which had 4.28m engrossed. Outside of regular news broadcasts, the next best performance went to ITV again with Long Lost Family: Born Without Trace. The 9PM show had 3.01m watching. Beyond that, we slipped under 3m for The Chase which had 2.79m watching, and The One Show entertained 2.38m, just edging ahead of EastEnders and its 2.25m viewers. The RHS Chelsea Flower Show put BBC2 up there, with 2.21m tuning in at 8PM, and as we drop under the 2m mark, we come to Pointless which had 1.97m watching, just besting Tipping Point's 1.71m.

TUESDAY:
Without Coronation Street, Silent Witness managed to reach gold medal position with 4.18m viewers, losing only 0.1m, and seeing a larger share of 28.4% (up on Monday's 27.5%).We then took a slight dip with BBC News at Six informing 3.55m, and Emmerdale close behind with 3.49m watching. These positions will reverse when official figures are revealed. Long Lost Family: Born Without Trace slipped for its next instalment to 2.66m (down 0.35m), but bet The Martin Lewis Money Show which had an audience of 2.44m. EastEnders also slipped for its Tuesday episode, with 2.15m watching. At 8PM, DIY SOS pulled in 2.02m viewers, besting BBC2 competition, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show which slipped to 1.89m. C4 had 1.46m watching Bake Off: The Professionals.

WEDNESDAY:
As expected, Coronation Street topped the night with 3.8m watching, but only narrowly beat Emmerdale top the top spot, the latter had 3.62m viewers, equalling what BBC News At Six had. The Great British Sewing Bee continued with 3.37m, and The Repair Shop brought in 2.96m. A the RHS Chelsea Flower Show moved to BBC1 this evening, figures picked up to have 2.52m watching, comfortably higher than the previous night's 1.9m. EastEnders remained consistent with 2.04 million, and Pointless received one of its better results - 1.91m.

THURSDAY:
Thursday had the lowest peak viewership of the week, with 3.63m tuning in to watch Emmerdale. The best offering outside of that was the BBC News At Six which had 3.42m engrossed. Who Do You Think You Are? on BBC1 managed a figure of 2.53m, being the best performance outside of Emmerdale & news broadcasts. The Chase sat close with 2.49m, and EastEnders slipped to 2.04m, just ahead of The One Show's 2.01m. Eat Well For Less could only reach 1.68m at 8PM and with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show back on BBC2, figures dropped to a low of 1.64m.The Prince's Trust Awards 2022 at 8:30PM on ITV only reached 1.54m viewers, overnight data shows.
Big Boys began with 430k. Taskmaster had 1.1m and Nick Knowles Big House Clearout pulled in 540k.
FRIDAY:
Coronation Street brought in 3.95m, somewhat well ahead of Emmerdale and its 3.42m audience. Gogglebox managed a healthy 3.02m for C4, a figure that should rise substantially when catch-up data is added. Have I Got News For You brought in 2.99m for BBC1 at 9PM. Beyond that and ITV Evening News (2.4m), the best performance was The Chase with 2.26m watching. BBC News At Ten reached 2.24m (22.3% share). Now back to BBC1, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show couldn't quite reach the high it had on Wednesday, with just 1.79m viewers, then again it also continued on BBC2 after with 1.5m. ITV'S It'll Be Alright On The Night had 1.69m viewers.
SATURDAY:
To no surprise, top for the night was Britain's Got Talent but with a much reduced 3.81 million. Outside of that, BT Sports took second with the UEFA Champions League, that had 3.51m watching from 6PM. The 1% Club continued with 2.88m, and The Weakest Link challenged 2.36m of us. Celebrity Catchpoint could only reach 1.84m, and was almost beaten by the ITV Evening News (1.79m), but was still better than Pointless Celebrities which had 1.64m.
SUNDAY:
First place for the week went to Sunday, as 4.64m of us tuned in to watch Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen, sitting comfortably ahead of second place - Countryfile (3.52m). From there, we had BBC Weekend News (2.9m) and the return of Midsomer Murders with 2.67m watching, which was almost directly against BBC1's leading show of the week. Gentleman Jack saw a gentle rise to 2.51m, and the RHS Chelsea Flower Show peaked back over the 2m mark to 2.05m. Live Formula 1 on Sky Sports at 4PM reached 1.86m (21.4%), with 1.55m watching earlier at 1:55PM.
